Lady Chatterley is a french film based on D.H. Lawrence's torrid book Lady Chatterley's Lover. The film revolves around Constance Chatterley, a young bride in her twenties. She is married to Sir Clifford Chatterley, a wealthy nobleman much older than she. Sir Clifford was gravely wounded in World War I and came home a paraplegic. Unfortunately he was left impotent. This causes him to shut out his wife. Although he loves her, he cannot show his affection in the way she needs him to do. This cause a huge rift between them. Constance begins to feel that she is little more than a nurse to Clifford. Constance knows that Clifford loves her in his own way. He showers her with all the creature comforts. Constance becomes tired of living in a loveless marriage. Constance has been taking daily walks around the estate, and during one of those walks starts chatting with Parkins, the groundskeeper of the estate. She has started to notice his muscular physique and feels a strong attraction to him. Parkins feels the attraction and is also drawn to her beauty. Despite the fact that Constance is married, she gives to temptation and they begin a physical relationship. At first it is only physical attraction but as time passes, she begins to have romantic feelings towards Parkins. With him she feels like she doesn't as if she has to be the proper lady. He makes her feel as she did before she became Lady Chatterly. Unfortunately for the star crossed lovers, their secret affair becomes public. Parkins and Constance are seen as little more than adulterers and are ostracized by the townspeople and the aristocratic set that was so important to Constance at one time. Constance learns what real love is.
